The hotel industry is booming, and UNITE HERE members across the United States and Canada make this travel boom possible. Their continued organizing ensures that hotel workers share in the growing prosperity of the hospitality sector.

Our members are among both the friendly faces who greet you when you land in a new city and the unseen army responsible for the preparation and delivery of tens of thousands of in-flight meals each day.

Our members are food service workers in corporate cafeterias, airports, universities, public school districts, sports stadiums, event centers, amusement parks, cultural institutions, and national parks, as well as tens of thousands of restaurant workers inside hotels and casinos.

UNITE HERE members have long worked in the established gaming markets of Las Vegas and Atlantic City. With expansion in the industry, UNITE HERE is also the union of gaming workers in newer jurisdictions, including California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, as well as in Ontario and British Columbia.

UNITE HERE members produce men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, and hats, as well as carpets and other soft goods for homes and cars. UNITE HERE members in Las Vegas and New England clean linen for hospitals, hotels, and restaurants, as well as the uniforms for workers in thousands of businesses.

Before the famous Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters first organized, another group of African-American railroad workers helped them get their start. That union lives on today in UNITE HERE, representing dining car workers on Amtrak trains throughout the United States.
