Election is the culmination of a 3-year organizing campaign
Workers at the Petaluma Sheraton voted to join UNITEHERE Local 2850 in an election held on Monday November 21. The election was the result of a three-year organizing campaign to win a union for the workers at the Petaluma Sheraton. The hotel is owned by telecom entrepreneurs Donald Green and John Webley and managed by the Modesto-based RIM Corporation.
Community member support was instrumental in winning a union for the Sheraton workers after years of campaigning.
The election was a re-run of a previous election. An arbitrator found that the employer violated the neutrality agreement during the first election, and ruled that the union had the right to another election.
