"American Jobs" examines the impact that global outsourcing has had on American families
Earlier this month, an important new documentary about the loss of American jobs to foreign competition was released nationwide. The film, called “American Jobs”, examines the impact that global outsourcing has had on American families as they experience the loss of middle-class jobs and face bankruptcy, no health insurance and an uncertain future.
It also features former UNITE HERE members from Kannapolis, NC, who lost thousands of high paying factory jobs when their plant shut its doors in 2003. Filmmaker Greg Spotts interviewed UNITE HERE President Bruce Raynor for the film, as well as UNITE HERE Chief Economist Mark Levinson. Both Raynor and Levinson explain the impact job losses have had on American workers, and on the labor movement at large.
The film is being shown across the country throughout the months of September and October. For more information about the film, and to purchase copies on DVD, go to www.americanjobsfilm.com.
