Ad is running in multiple test markets
In partnership with artist Edel Rodriguez, UNITE HERE is presenting the public with an important question regarding President Donald Trump’s continual lying, blame-shifting and excuses for inaction: “Want more?”
“While our union has suffered great losses caused by the delayed response to the coronavirus pandemic in February, our members want us to do all we can to emphasize that empty and dishonest blather from Donald Trump is no substitute for federal action to deal with the current health and economic crisis,” said UNITE HERE President D. Taylor. “We are partnering with our allies and supporters across the country to make sure this ad helps achieve that goal.”
The culmination of a year-long collaboration, the artwork featured in the ads builds on a unique, instantly recognizable aesthetic Edel Rodriguez has developed for the New York Times, Der Spiegel, and TIME Magazine. Edel’s protest art has come to define the Trump era for many progressives and social movements, including international labor unions.
UNITE HERE cites research in a June 2019 Pew Research Center study that found that, by 55% to 24%, the public believes that Trump has changed the tone and nature of political debate in this country for the worse rather than for the better.
UNITE HERE’s campaign expresses the universal fatigue and frustration with President Trump’s failure to lead now against the backdrop of his 18,000 false or misleading statements to date.
