WHAT: A rally for US Sen. Jon Corzine, Democratic candidate for the New Jersey Governor’s office.

WHERE: Brighton Park, on the Atlantic City Boardwalk at Park Place.

WHY: In October, 2004, UNITE HERE! Local 54, the Atlantic City hotel and restaurant employees union, called a strike effecting seven of Atlantic City’s 12 hotel casinos. The strike lasted one month. One of the most prominent supporters of Local 54 and its members was United States Senator Jon Corzine of New Jersey. Sen. Corzine walked in a picket line and encouraged Local 54 members to hold to their principles in the best tradition of collective bargaining.

Now, Sen. Corzine is the Democratic candidate for the office of Governor of the State of New Jersey. The purpose of this rally is to thank Sen. Corzine for his respect for organized labor in New Jersey and specifically for his important support for UNITE HERE! Local 54. UNITE HERE! has announced its endorsement of Sen. Corzine.

The rally will feature remarks by Bruce Raynor, President of UNITE HERE! and John Wilhelm, President of UNITE HERE!’s hospitality Division as well as an address by Sen. Corzine.
