“The Biden Administration made a promise to the Haitian community on the campaign trail that this was not the time to end Temporary Protected Status for Haitians. Now, we are holding him to that.
“During the 2020 presidential election, over 1,700 UNITE HERE housekeepers, cooks, servers, and dishwashers canvassed door-to-door in Nevada, Arizona, Florida, and Pennsylvania and then worked to take back the Senate in the Georgia runoff to ensure that families who have lived and worked in the U.S. for decades would not be separated. This is their home.
“Senators Robert Menendez and Marco Rubio’s joint statement conveys the urgency needed to redesignate Haiti for TPS. We expect President Biden to do right for Haitians in the U.S. who do so much to keep our economy running.
“It’s time for the Biden Administration to act with urgency by redesignating Haitians in the U.S. for TPS immediately.”
