Senator Robert Menendez has placed a significant proposal for comprehensive immigration reform before the U.S. Senate. We fully support Senator Menendez’ legislation and we urge the Senate to consider it and pass it!
The framework Senator Menendez proposes is thoughtful and reasonable. It includes provision for the unification of families, smart employment verification, secure borders, a commission to review labor markets and visa opportunities, a provisional worker visa program with a pathway to permanence and significant wage and labor protections. It supports the DREAM Act and the AG jobs bills. This is the right step for working people. It is the right step for the American economy. It is the right step for America.
We urge each senator to be responsible and allow full consideration of the Menendez bill. This is no time to allow partisan paralysis or election year politics to delay action on immigration reform. We need it now and we urge the Senate to pass it. We call on Republicans to walk back from the partisan ledge and engage with Senator Menendez and other leaders to restore the rule of law through comprehensive immigration reform.
We invite employers, organized labor, the faith communities and others to join us in support of the Menendez bill. Now is the time! We can’t wait any longer!
