For immediate release

The Fifth Circuit court released their ruling declaring DACA unconstitutional. The ruling affects nearly 600,000 individuals who rely on DACA to support their families. This means that individuals who are eligible to apply will no longer be able to as new applicants. New applications will be closed. However, the judge also ruled that individuals who are already enrolled in the program will continue to have a valid DACA status.
Congress has turned their back on our immigrant community. Their attempts to aid by providing temporary solutions has done nothing but increase suffering for millions of immigrant families.
As a labor union, we stand with our immigrant sisters and brothers and demand a permanent solution! Join us to push congress to vote YES to updating the registry date. Voting yes to update the registry would immediately allow up to 8 million people who contributed for years to this country to have access to permanent residency, including DACA recipients.
We need Congress to act now quickly and with urgency, not turn their back on immigrants who work hard to make our county thrive.
