Media Advisory: Join Hospitality Workers and Union Members in the Field (GA Advisory)
The union of hospitality workers, UNITE HERE, is operating the largest independent labor field program in GA ahead of the Senate runoff on December 6.
WHO: UNITE HERE canvassers from the hospitality industry, union, and community members
WHAT: Opportunity to “Walk with Us” — join a canvassing team knocking doors for Senator Warnock, having one-on-one conversations with voters about the issues they care most about
WHERE: Atlanta and surrounding areas and/or Columbus, GA
WHEN: Dependent on availability
WHY: Coming off the heels of securing the Senate majority for Democrats in Nevada, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, the union that ran the country’s most effective ground operation — and largest in those critical battleground states — brings its decades-long track record back to Georgia for the runoff.
Democrats have a chance to grow their team in Washington and work to pass meaningful reforms aligned with the progressive Biden agenda that will impact the livelihoods of working-class communities everywhere.
UNITE HERE’s canvass team is a mix of local union and community members from Atlanta and Columbus, as well as a crew of seasoned veterans with experience organizing voters — and coworkers — around the issues that matter most to them. With margins as close as they are in Georgia, it all comes down to who has the stronger door-to-door canvassing program. With UNITE HERE’s support alongside local allies and the labor movement across the state, Senator Warnock has by far the better backing in the field.
Georgia is ground-zero for what Republicans are trying to accomplish in their voter suppression laws and attacks on fundamental rights. The confusion around this runoff is intentional by the Republican party that changed things after they lost the last runoffs. UNITE HERE’s canvass operation cuts through the confusion by providing voters what they need to make informed decisions at the ballot box.
