Culinary Health Fund Unveils Cutting-Edge, Multi-Faceted Culinary Health Center, June 15
Culinary Health Fund members will have access to a multitude of primary and preventative care services in one convenient location
Thursday, June 15, 2017, Las Vegas: On Thursday, June 15 2017, Culinary Health Fund unveiled an innovative, high-quality health care center designed to provide increased access to primary and preventative care to tens of thousands of eligible Las Vegas Culinary Health Fund members. The multi-service Culinary Health Center will provide eligible members with access to a full range of medical services in one convenient location.
To commemorate the opening, Governor Brian Sandoval, former Senator Harry Reid, and Commissioner Lawrence Weekly gave remarks along with UNITE HERE President D. Taylor, Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Geoconda Arguello-Kline, and Culinary Health Fund President Kathy Silver before participating in a celebratory ribbon cutting and balloon launch with Culinary Union members.
The Culinary Health Center is located at 650 North Nellis Boulevard – central to a large portion of Culinary Health Fund’s members – and has a dedicated emphasis on enhanced patient experience and focus on saving members time with easy access to services and high-quality care. In addition to adult and pediatric primary care, eligible members will have access to urgent care, pharmacy, dental care, and optometry services on site.
“The Culinary Health Center represents an entirely new model of care for members and their families. Not only does the Culinary Health Center house services for a majority of preventative and primary care needs, it’s also located in an area in which approximately 46,000 of Culinary Union members live,” says Culinary Health Fund President Kathy Silver. “The Culinary Health Center will allow us to expand our provider network adding more physicians, making it easier for workers to get the high-quality care they deserve.”
In addition to expanded services, the Culinary Health Center will reinforce what Las Vegas does best – creating an exceptional service experience. Members of the Culinary Workers Union Local 226, Bartender’s Union Local 165, Musicians Union of Las Vegas Local 369, and the IATSE Local 720 will be able to schedule appointments via mobile phone and same day appointments will be available.
Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Geoconda Arguello-Kline congratulated the Health Fund’s Trustees and Culinary Union Members: “This is a dream come true for Culinary Union members who have made family health care their highest priority for so many years. Our nation may feel divided today, but our Employer and Culinary Union Health Fund Trustees are showing what can happen in America when we work together.”
The Culinary Health Fund invested $30 million into the construction of the Culinary Health Center, which, resulted in 150 new, full time jobs, including doctors, optometrists, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, and a wide-range of people dedicated to delivering high-quality care. In addition to cultivating the Las Vegas health care landscape by welcoming Activate Healthcare to Nevada as its partner for adult and pediatric primary care services, the Culinary Health Center will partner with local health care leaders including Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Inc, Desert Radiology, The EyeCare Center, Nevada Dental Benefits, OptumRx, and U.S. Acute Care Solutions, to help strengthen existing local practices.
“The Culinary Health Fund is committed to providing the highest quality of care to its members,” said Cynthia Kiser Murphey, Culinary Health Fund Board of Trustee Member and President and COO of New York-New York Hotel & Casino. “With the new, cutting-edge Culinary Health Center, members will receive first-class care in a state-of-the-art facility that’s more accessible and convenient to them, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s open.”
