Fifty years after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the historic Memphis sanitation workers’ strike, UNITE HERE remembers and recommits to their vision of faith, civil rights, and labor movements united in nonviolent action.
On April 3–4, 2018, more than 2,000 UNITE HERE members from across North America will join tens of thousands more in Memphis, Tennessee, to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Memphis sanitation workers and carry their legacy forward.
I AM 2018 isn’t just a reflection on the past; it’s a call to action for the future. An urgent call to fight poverty and prejudice, advance the freedom of all working people, and remind America that there can be no racial justice without economic justice, and no economic justice without racial justice.
Join the Facebook event to say you’ll make history in Memphis again—in spirit or in person.
