“Efforts by President Trump and Republicans lawmakers to increase enforcement of a broken immigration system constitute an appalling attack on immigrant workers and families. Choosing to criminalize some members of our communities does nothing but tear families apart. Our members—immigrant, refugee and native-born—will continue to build power and defend our brothers and sisters against attacks in their workplaces, homes or communities. Our union will continue to stand with mayors and other local government leaders who are committed to protecting the constitutional and human rights of every resident. Along with the millions who marched against President Trump’s policies over inauguration weekend, we are inspired to be part of the growing coalition of ordinary people working to realize the American dream—equality and opportunity for all.”
