The UNITE HERE Global Vision
Around the world, UNITE HERE’s Global Campaigns Department partners with unions and social justice movements to understand and respond to the rapidly shifting realities of today’s global economy.
Our members direct this global vision through their knowledge and courage. Many workers in our industries have fled repression or poverty in their home countries to seek better lives for themselves and their families in North America. UNITE HERE combines what we know to fight the health and safety violations, sexual harassment, wage theft, and disrespect that workers in our industries around the world face.
The corporations that employ our members are increasingly global, as are the corporate decision-makers, owners, investors, and customers. Through our partnerships with unions globally, we develop common strategies, tackle shared struggles, and speak to multinational employers with a unified voice.
Our members also are at the heart of our work against political attacks on workers’ rights to organize for decent jobs and benefits. We stand in solidarity with important campaigns for worker and human rights around the world, from the Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia to winning justice for workers killed and injured in garment factory disasters in Bangladesh.
Our members’ experiences, networks, and commitment to world-wide movements for social justice comprise the face of UNITE HERE. Through international exchange programs, delegations, and solidarity rallies with social justice struggles around the world, we advance safe and decent jobs throughout the global economy.
